@Vigilance: There are different set bonuses. If you right click on an item you can choose to examine it and there is usually a vague comment on what the set bonus might be.
Master Wade in Denerim's Market District can make amazing drake scale armor if you give him enough drake scales. He seems positively eager to do so. The drake scales are found on drakes in the Mountainside Caverns during the quest for the Urn of Sacred Ashes. Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition. Used warden commander armor (good stam) with star fang and blightblood. Warden armor starfag is from Warden Keep DLC and blightblood is from the darkspawn chronicals dlc. It is alot of fun to play dual wiedling berserker warrrior and you can either pick champion second special class or ravager.
Armor of the Legion is more of an offensive increase I believe. If you're having trouble with casters I'd recommend choosing templar as a subclass and snagging some of the 'knight commander' armor. The breastplate has 40% spell resistance built into it (but only templars can wear). Combine that with the spellward necklace and you've got 70%. A few other items and you can be sitting at 90%.
I carried this set around in my first play through and put it on any time I went up against multiple mages. If you can't get the knight commander armor, templar armor is the next best at 20% spell resistance built into the breastplate.

Dragon Age Origins Ui Scale
The first question is better answered by the Wiki as the other guy said but the best option is to pay the 10 the first time because then you will get a set of superior Drake scale armor plus it is cheaper with no stats differences.I personally think that the superior dragonbone plate armor is the best armor in the game. There is at least one set that give a slightly higher armor rating, but I think the fire resistance is better than the additional armor. It is definitely worth the 10 sovereigns if you plan on using it.
